Kayan Hydro Energy - Sumitomo - PLTA Kayan Hydro-Power Plant

China Power Investment Corporation (CPIC) plans to invest $17.8 billion for the construction of a major dam that could take about 20 years to build, which includes a hydro power plant in the Kayan River, North Kalimantan.

The electricity from the hydro power plant will be supplied to North Kalimantan region, which often suffered power shortage, including the Industrial Zone and International Port (KIPI) in Tanah Kuning village, Tanjung Palas Timur, Bulungan.
