KAPP - Kuwait Metropolitan Rapid Transit System (KMRT)

Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP) is planning to construct Metropolitan Rapid Transit.
The Kuwait Metro Rail is a 171-kilometer (km) long inner city transport running across the city. It is the first metro rail project and the second private-public partnership project launched by the Government of Kuwait since 2009. Estimated to cost $7 billion, the government will own 10% of the project and raise 50% of the funds through an initial public offer. The remaining 40% will be held by the private developer.
The project aims to ease the increasing traffic congestion on the city roads in addition to improving the quality of life by resolving daily commuting problems.
The Kuwait Metropolitan Rapid Transit (KMRT) system will consist of an integrated network-unified fleet and limited passenger interchange. The system will comprise 69 stations with a total length of 160 km. The trains will be driver-less with an operation speed of 90 kilometers per hour (kph), and a maximum speed of 100 kph.
