Pertamina - Balongan Refinery Upgrade (RDMP RU 6) - Phase 3 - New Refinery and Petrochemical Complex
The Balongan refinery in West Java has been the last major refinery to be constructed in Indonesia since 1994 and state-owned PT Pertamina is determined in expanding the crude processing capacity of the petrochemical complex at and building a petrochemical plant to reduce imports of petrochemical products. Pertamina will build the project in three phases. The expansion will be the first phase and is to target a refining capacity of 150,000 b/d by 2022 from 125,000 b/d currently. The second phase will increase the product yield from the refinery, and the third phase will include a new petrochemical plant slated to be completed in 2026. The project is part of the country's Refining Development Master Plan (RDMP), which will ensure that Indonesia has sufficient refining capacity to meet growth in domestic fuel and petrochemical product demand.
